Caritas is finally here in our diocese. The Diocese of Klerksdorp officially opened the Caritas office on the 3rd of November, 2017. The office is situated in the Cathedral of Christ the Redeemer, Klerksdorp. The Bishop of the Diocese, Rt. Rev. Victor Phalana was there to bless the Caritas office and declare it open. After the blessing of the office by the Bishop, the new Caritas officials were commissioned. The co-ordinator of Caritas Klerksdorp, Rev. Fr. Bernard Sangwa addressed those present telling them about the vision and mission of Caritas and what he hopes to achieve with his fellow Caritas officials in the Diocese. He stated that they hope to reach out to the poor, the needy and the marginalized in the Diocese and help them. Other Carita Klerksdorp officials and their offices are Lehlohonolo Mahogen – Chairperson, Julia Kgosi – Deputy Chairperson, Lebo Theko – Secretary, Andrew Seneo – Deputy Secretary, Motshidisi Commando – Treasurer and Gordon Mogoera – Logistics. The Bishop praised their commitments so far and encouraged them to keep up the good work they have already started as volunteers to move Caritas Klerksdorp forward.
